Night attacks.
Please don't have a situation your character attacks my character when she's asleep and thinks she's safe. Please don't describe that scenario either if talking about such an event. Changing it to "Then she tried to backstab me," or something is fine. On the other hand, if it involves going to sleep in a known unsafe place and something bad happens, then it's fine.
No forced piercings, scarrings, or tattoos.
Magical tattoos are fine.
Additional Info: Read my OC's short story! (CW notes at top.)
Read my OC's rakugo! No CWs.
Re: permissions: It's not fourth-walling to know the kuchisake-onna story. It's part of her canon lore that she plays into it as an act.

Date: 2026-01-20 12:20 pm (UTC)Yes. She has a soul. And it's her own soul. And it's not 'weird' in itself. But how it's inside her is weird. It's like it came free and then was crammed back into her body. She's not exactly a walking corpse with a soul in it, but definitely a 'walking body that should be dead and the soul should be free'.
Why?
The knife used to kill her is what 'ties' her to the physical world. Without it, Megumi would be a normal low-level kuchisake-onna. An onryo possessed by hate she felt in the last moments before she died. She'd only be capable of simple concepts and emotions. But, since she's still in her body with her human brain and everything else, her emotional and intellectual state is unchanged.
If the knife was destroyed, her body would fall over dead. But, she has no reason to carry that around, and so it's at home. Of course she can be wounded like anyone else and need to recover, but as long as that knife exists, even if she's crushed to bits, she'll still technically 'be alive' and her wounds will eventually heal. The wounds that originally killed her and made her a kuchisake-onna will never heal. She's potentially vulnerable to spiritual charms and exorcism. Potentially. She hasn't tried and doesn't want to find out. (Salt doesn't work. I'll decide the rest later.)
Is she a real kuchisake-onna, or just a ghost with some wounds resembling the tradition?
As far as Megumi is concerned, it doesn't matter. Her 'acting like' a kuchisake-onna is her consciously doing a bit. She has no compulsion to go around asking people 'am I pretty?' or anything else. She expressly has never killed or hurt someone since dying.
She may or may not be related to the 'original' kuchisake-onna. I haven't decided that yet.
She definitely died hating the man who killed her, and had her looks insulted as it happened, so there is some resemblance to the traditional kuchisake-onna story. (The explicit details are known by me and might be something I write about later.)
Anything else?
She doesn't need to eat. She can't feel temperature changes. She can feel pain, though, including if something is scalding.
A detail about herself she doesn't know is the more she gives into her bad emotions about her death (and being wronged in general), the more 'otherworldly' she'll look appearance-wise. This just doesn't occur to her because she's generally a positive person, and it really has to be so extreme it overrides her rationality.
